How to Plan the Perfect Pizza Party
Planning a pizza party sounds simple until you're standing in the kitchen wondering how many pizzas to order for 30 people. Or 50. Or 12 kids who eat like 30. Here's a practical guide with real numbers, real setup tips, and a few lessons we've learned from catering hundreds of events in Northern Virginia.
How Much Pizza to Order
The standard rule: plan for 3 slices per adult and 2 slices per child. Our pizzas are large enough that 8 slices per pizza is a reliable count. Do the math from there.
- 10 adults: 4 pizzas (30 slices ÷ 8)
- 20 adults: 8 pizzas
- 10 adults + 10 kids: 6 pizzas (30 + 20 = 50 slices ÷ 8)
- 30 adults: 12 pizzas
- 50 people (mixed): 20-22 pizzas
Always round up. Leftover pizza is never a problem. Running out mid-party is.
The Perfect Party Spread
A great pizza party needs variety, sides, and smart timing. We've catered birthday parties, office lunches, school events, and graduations — the best ones share a few things in common.
Choosing the Right Variety
Don't order 20 of the same pizza. People want choices, and variety keeps the table interesting. A good ratio for a group of 20: 3 pepperoni, 2 Margherita, 2 Mediterranean, 1 Four Cheese, 1 All Meat, 1 Make Your Own or specialty.
Crowd-Pleasing Picks from Our Menu
- Pepperoni — universally loved, always goes first
- Margherita — the clean, classic option for lighter eaters
- Four Cheese — satisfies the cheese lovers without being polarizing
- Mediterranean — the adventurous option that converts skeptics
- Make Your Own — let guests customize if you're ordering for smaller groups
Sides, Drinks, and the Extras
Pizza alone makes a party. Pizza plus sides makes a great party. Add French fries for the kids — they disappear fast. A couple of Caesar salads or Caprese salads give adults a lighter option alongside the pizza. Our fresh juices (Berry Smash is the most popular) work great as a non-soda drink option.
The best pizza parties aren't complicated. Good pizza, a few sides, and enough food so nobody worries about running out. That's the whole formula.
Planning an event? We cater parties of all sizes with fresh wood-fired pizza.
Catering InfoTiming and Logistics
For pickup orders, give us at least 2 hours of advance notice for parties over 10 pizzas. For catering inquiries, call us at (703) 485-8313 at least 48 hours ahead so we can plan the dough. Yes — we have to start your party's dough 2 days before the event.
Keep It Hot
If you're picking up and driving to a venue, stack boxes flat (never on their side) and keep the car warm. Pizza loses heat fast. For catering deliveries, we time everything so the food arrives ready to eat.
Budget Planning
Our pizzas range from $9.99 (Marinara) to $14.99 (All Meat), with most at $12.99. For a party of 20 adults, budget about $100-$120 for pizza plus $30-$40 for sides. That's $6-8 per person for a wood-fired pizza meal — significantly less than most catering options and a lot more memorable.
